This weekend people in Belgium and France celebrated the Epiphany by eating a lovely cake, Galette du Roi; it's almost gone in this house, as it is indeed very tasty!
At this occasion I got reminded of a small knitting book I recently bought called "The Twelve Knits of Christmas" by Fiona Goble. She celebrates in knits each verse of the century-old English song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" which is believed to have celebrated the 12 days from Christmas to Epiphany on 6 January.
So somewhat belated, I started with the partridge of the first verse today - then I will be ready for next Christmas with some of the other figures!
So here we go with first verse of the song:
"On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
A Partridge in a pear tree."
