2nd Book in Knits

First “book square” was launched in this blog back in July. Now it is time to reveal the 2nd square depicting the 2nd book, which we read in our local book club.

Being in an international bookclub (with nationalities such as Italian, Portuguese, French & American), we get to read many interesting and diverse books, so I hope that with these blogs that you might also get inspired to check out some of the the books and perhaps feel like reading them.

The second book in our club was written by Pascal Mercier (original in German) and called “Lea”. It is a book about obsession and love, about a father’s love to his daughter, who lost her mother as a child and find solace in playing the violin. A sad story, which for sure will make you reflect.

As the violin has center stage throughout this book, my square had to feature a violin; not as easy to knit in such a small triangle as the one which is my limit. As a triangle in itself, the violin stands out well, but combined with three other triangles, the image gives a total different perspective.

I have started to experiment with gradual tones and these blue/green tones are particular pretty. I wanted the green to symbolize hope, which however turn into dark blue, as the situation in the book seems more and more hopeless, as we read on..

I you have read this book, I hope that I succeeded in depicting it here.
