Staying at home for nearly two months have made us all reflect more - one day I was wondering why I keep turning to flowers for inspirations to many of my squares for my latest blog blanket.
Then I took a look around my home and in fact, everywhere flowers are to be seen - a calming factor in these strange times when we all need to stay at home and only have online contact with our nearest and dearest.
In my yard, my tulips and camellia have just finished their flowering, but the red roses will soon pop with their glorious red flowers - this year I counted 24 (!) buds.
And then looking around my home, I am surrounded by many colourful flowers - I even wore a flowery top the day I took all my photos! From small trial packages of perfumes and cream in my bathroom to one of my favourite paintings in my living room, but also the bed frame in my guest room and some of my inherited plates and bowls - they all feature lovely flowers.
Luckily the flower stand at my local market is again opened, so I could get a bouquet of my favourite flowers, freesias, which are now nicely decorating my room next to the old chair my mother embroidered - decorated … with flowers.
So a small uplifting advice for you in these strange times we are living in - go and buy yourself a bouquet of fragrant colourful flowers and you will cheer up!
Stay safe!
